APPROPRIATE CLOTHING IS REQUIRED: NO SHORTS, NO HALTER TOPS AND NO BARE MIDRIFFS WILL BE PERMITTED.

JUROR INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK OF: 

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2014:

ALL JURORS WHO HAVE A JUROR NUMBER BETWEEN 275 & 600 ARE EXCUSED AND NEED NOT REPORT FOR JURY SERVICE UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN RESUMMONED BY MAIL.  YOUR JUROR NUMBER IS A NUMBER FROM 1 TO 600.  IT IS FOLLOWED BY A DASH AND A NUMBER FROM 1 TO 5.  FOR EXAMPLE FOR THE NUMBER 236-4, THE JUROR NUMBER IS 236.

 

****NOTE:  IF YOU HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FROM ANOTHER DATE TO TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2014, YOU MUST REPORT.

 

IF YOU HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED TO A FUTURE REPORTING DATE OR HAVE CLAIMED AN EXEMPTION OR DISQUALIFICATION, PLEASE DISREGARD THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

JUROR'S RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

RIGHT TO REEMPLOYMENT: A PRIVATE EMPLOYER MAY NOT TERMINATE THE EMPLOYMENT OF A PERMANENT EMPLOYEE BECAUSE THE EMPLOYEE SERVES AS A JUROR. AN EMPLOYEE WHOSE EMPLOYMENT IS TERMINATED IN VIOLATION OF THIS SECTION IS ENTITLED TO RETURN TO THE SAME EMPLOYMENT THAT THE EMPLOYEE HELD WHEN SUMMONED FOR JURY SERVICE IF THE EMPLOYEE, AS SOON AS PRACTICAL AFTER RELEASE FROM JURY SERVICE, GIVES THE EMPLOYER ACTUAL NOTICE THAT THE EMPLOYEE INTENDS TO RETURN. (CIVIL PRACTICE AND REMEDIES CODE, SECTION 122.001)

FAILURE TO ANSWER SUMMONS AND PENALTIES: A PERSON WHO FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THIS SUMMONS IS SUBJECT TO CONTEMPT ACTION PUNISHABLE BY A FINE OF NOT LESS THAN $100.00 NOR MORE THAN $1,000.00 (GOVERNMENT CODE, SECTION 62.0141). ADDITIONALLY, A PERSON SHALL BE FINED NOT LESS THAN $100.00 NOR MORE THAN $500.00 IF THE PERSON: (1) FAILS TO ATTEND COURT IN OBEDIENCE TO THE NOTICE WITHOUT REASONABLE EXCUSE; OR (2) FILES A FALSE CLAIM OF EXEMPTION FROM JURY SERVICE. (GOVERNMENT CODE, SECTION 62.111)

PROPER CLOTHING REQUIRED: ALL PERSONS ENTERING THE COURTROOM SHOULD BE DRESSED IN CLOTHING REASONABLY BEFITTING THE DIGNITY AND SOLEMNITY OF THE COURT PROCEEDINGS. NO SHORTS ARE PERMITTED AND ALL CELL PHONES AND PAGERS SHOULD BE TURNED OFF UPON ENTERING THE COURTROOM.

THE COURTHOUSE IS LOCATED AT 501 WASHINGTON AVE.  FREE PARKING IS PROVIDED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS ON THE N.E. CORNER OF 5TH & WASHINGTON AND ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF WASHINGTON BETWEEN 5TH & 6TH STREETS.
